Fund Recipients

In 2004, the Trust approved its first disbursements to be made to the seven schools in the HANA (High
Aircraft Noise Area) and MANA (Moderate Noise Area). Its objective was to enhance formal learning
opportunities for children within the Area of Benefit whose schooling is affected by aircraft noise. A total of
3,057 children attend these schools with donations averaging $63 per pupil.

In its second year of operation (2005), the Trust approved grants totalling $200,000 in support of literacy
programmes for people living and working in the Area of Benefit. The grants in this year covered the provision
of literacy resources as well as costs associated with tutors and other staff. The Trustees were pleased to be
able to support a wide variety of programmes ranging from those offered in a pre-school setting for children
and parents, through primary, intermediate and secondary schools along with an adult literacy programme
offered to the parent community of a local primary school.

In year three (2006) the Trust again funded a number of literacy initiatives in the Area of Benefit. The Trust
also continued to support those schools in the HANA and MANA sectors of its Area of Benefit which wanted to
install Soundfield systems to enhance the classroom environment for their students and their teachers. Both
Flatbush School and Dawson Primary School benefited from this support.

In 2007 community grants to the value of $272,768 were awarded in support of literacy
initiatives. In this grant round special emphasis was given to supporting those projects which involved
parents and families in the development of their children's literacy skills.

In 2008 community grant disbursements totalled $305,445 - also in support of a range of literacy and
family literacy projects.

In 2009, the Trust distributed $346,878 funding in community grants to projects in the area of benefit.

In 2010, community grants to the value of $270,788 were awarded in support of projects in the Trust's area of
benefit for literacy and life skills programmes.

Community grants for 2011 were awarded in June and have taken the Trust's granting over the $2million
mark. This year, grants totalling $264,782 have been awarded for literacy and life skills projects.
